Off to the Cold

The school year, or at least the calendar year is wrapping up to a close. The big stage has been cleared up from A Christmas Carol, and I know that I will be the next tennant. Before throwing my books and some almost stale Christmas cookies into the trunk of the car, I walked out into the big, mostly dark, mostly empty theatre and wondered how in the world I was going to fill it. All I had was a wee tiny script in my hand and a big cavern to fill. I have promised myself to read through Ladies Man a few more times over the holidays, but I know that all my planning, all my jokes, and all my blocking are going to get thrown to the wind as soon as I figure out the best actors to tell this story. Good comedy is like buying good clothing. The best is always cut exactly to the chosen person and never “off the rack”. AND, it takes so damn long to get a tailor to get simple fabric into a suit. Time to warm up the sewing machines.
