Our theatre department needs a bit of help. As our numbers continue to grow, we have lost some of that team-spirit that once kept us together and supporting the efforts of others. Back in the day, we were there to mend and to tend to each other. We watched out for each other. Student leaders were in place to keep us on track. Last year, however, we veered off path and we were not there for each other.
As a possible solution this year, we are creating a “Culture Club” that will be established by a faculty-chosen senior from Tech, Performance, and Musical Theatre. This group of three seniors will create a larger group that will represent the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior students. Their charge – and it is a big one – is to bring back unity to the students of the theatre department.
I am hoping that with more apparent student leadership we can get back the theatre mojo and help keep our larger department connected.
