To Honor the Right Heart

UnknownEvery department is likely to have the “gently spirit” that brings all of the vibrant sometimes toxic personalities of theatre into the same space and bridges the difference. Although the work of this students is quiet and unobtruseive, it is essential to keep our department running smoothly.

Our second Bravo goes to a young lady equally essential to our department. She has been active on stage and off stage. She has been part of Starfish Circus, Trepidation Nation and, when a recent mainstage show had a need for management in its last few rehearsals, she dropped everything and ran to make show fly without ever missing a beat. I have had a chance to work with her in the acting intensive class Company. It is here that she has really shined as a team player. You knew your group was going to the very best if only you could convince this recipient to be a part. In Company I have been delighted to see her embrace the spiritual path of an artist. She speaks beautifully of her journey as an artist and is always there to support the journey of others. Will it be acting, directing, or management – – it could be any one – but likely to be all. This young lady serves the art in herself well before herself in the art. The theatre department’s second Bravo recipient Allison Svagdis

It’s great to hear of such dedicated young people. Those who are passionate and willing to help others in the name of the collective or group are bound to do well. It’s not enough to just want to achieve personal success; you have to be prepared to be one of the team as well. I think this is quite a tough lesson, especially for those who are talented and are used to being in the spotlight. Your department is very lucky.
