Now That Stung

unknownI understand that you are not prepared for the test. This is a mighty busy month for our department and sometimes life just happens and things just don’t turn out like you had planned. I get it. It happens for me.

What should you have done? You should have come to me the day before or early in the morning.  In this day of communicating in a hundred different ways, there really is no excuse.  You should have owned the fact that you are not ready with the assignment and asked for some way to make up the learning – – not the grade but the learning. You would be surprised that the assignment that you were rather avoiding was actually quite wonderful.  A play is a wonderful thing – a theatre kid can never afford to pass-up a play and a discussion about a play.  “The play is the thing.”

In the big picture this test means nothing. This class and I will soon mean nothing. High school itself is debatable. But what is solidly at stake is your organization and integrity. Protect it. It matters.
