I was struck by this picture that was intended for a communications class. To me it is the perfect summary of the Meisner technique that I love so much. The true problem in acting is NOT talking – not the lines and not the words. The true problem is for the actor to listen in the present moment with no regard as to what is going to come out of their mouth next.
