Snow Plant

Version 2I’m currently about to audition for NYU. Thank you so much for all your help throughout this year! I’ll text you after to tell you how it went

He said he’ll send my review in with flying colors, and if the school likes my grades (thank God this young man has terrific grades) then I’ll get an acceptance!

Oh yeah – everything he said is something I heard from you.

These are exactly the kind of texts that any drama teacher hopes to get at this time of the year! The plane made it to NYC. You got the right car to the right hotel. You got yourself up at the right time. You remembered your stuff. You found the way to the audition hall. You didn’t fall victim to any fatal fall or illness. You did your interview. Green lights were given – – and them the most CRUCIAL part of the process – – you texted your lowly high school theatre teacher at home to share the good tidings of great joy! WE’RE IN. I mean YOU’RE in. I mean you’re going to college. I mean I’m not going to college with you. I mean that would be weird – – but MAN, am I excited for you. Doors are flying open and new journeys are biting at your heels.

Back in Florida we are having auditions (as truly impossible as it is to comprehend) for students acceptance into the department for 2016-2017. These people are three feet tall. Most of these people cannot separate upstage right from downstage left. Sometimes I set through fifteen minutes waiting to see if I can spot something that can be called a gesture. True, I am happy and excited for these very young students to begin their journey with us; we are going to have a great time together. I am going to make you LOVE this art – – But tonight – tonight, I am thinking a bit less about tending all of these seeds. Tonight I just want to enjoy my plant- – a thousand miles away – basking in a bit of snow-filled sunshine!
